    Video recording

So I watched Tech's video of the UK UX match and was wondering.. what do people use for recording video? Does it cane the frame rate?

I'd like to give it a go!

What's with all this extra space at the bottom? What am I supposed to do with it?? XD

Cheers Stormy. I'd heard that FRAPS was a good choice, I'll investigate. Does anyone use MSI Afterburner?

Heard of it, never used it, Over-clocking for MSI graphics cards if i recall ? I use something similar called EVGA Precision X.

Also on the FRAPS/Recording software, Razer the Mouse/Keyboard maker have just released a piece of Beta software called Razer Game booster, its one of those apps that shuts down none essential processes etc but it also has a FRAPS/ recording functionality built in.
No idea how good it is, its currently in Beta and open to anyone to try so might be worth a look. It can be found here...

I've tried 3 different programs for recording game footage: Fraps, MSI Afterburner and Dxtory.

I've currently settled on Dxtory for now because it gives most room to play with different options, though that also means it's the hardest of the 3 to set up. Fraps does seem to give a particularly bad hit to framerate when recording, and the files it records are large so you'll need plenty of free hard drive space. MSIA and Dxtory are better for file size, and also don't hit my framerate that hard at all when recording. Sometimes I forget I'm even doing it.

If anyone wants a hand setting any of them up let me know.

    MSI Afterburner: http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm
    Fraps: http://www.fraps.com/download.php
    Dxtory: http://dxtory.com/v2-download-en.html

Note that MSI Afterburner is the only free one of the above. The others have a trial version available but you'll get watermarks and limited features. Either you'll need to buy a license...or do that other thing that you can do.
